Non-venomous snakes come in a wide variety in the Antelope Valley. Usually they are constrictors, but some swallow there food alive. The snakes that swallow their food alive are mostly lizard eaters.


California Kingsnake

The California Kingsnake is known for its Black-White-Black-White banded pattern, but depending on where you find it could also be brown and yellow. It has smooth, glassy scales and a long narrow face. It is also known for it’s eating habits because it eats other snakes. They especially like rattlesnakes. The king snake is not a cannibal, it does not eat other Kingsnakes. Other things in their diet are rodents and lizards.
