Location: The sanctuary is situated on the east side of 233rd Street East, an unimproved dirt road, one mile north of the Palmdale-Victorville Road (State Highway 138). The legal description is as follows: the West half of Section 15, Township 5 North, Range 8 West, S.B.B.M.
Size: 320 acres
Elevation: The elevation ranges from 3,170 feet to 3,266 feet
Accessibility: The sanctuary is very difficult to find as the “pioneer road”, 233rd Street East is unmarked along the Palmdale-Victorville Road, and many small dirt roads leave the pavement throughout the area.
Plant
Communities: The two plant communities represented throughout this area are Joshua Tree Woodland and Creosote Bush Scrub. According to the earlier Department report about 60 species of annual and perennial flowers have been found on this sanctuary.
